Maasktape

The washi paper is the product

Why this washi tape holds the line.

Most masking tape is made from crepe — cheap, stretchy, and prone to a fuzzy line. We build Maasktape on a smooth washi-paper backing: a supple, long-fibre washi paper with a clean, dense edge. It’s a finer, more demanding paper. On a finish that has to be right the first time, it’s the difference that shows.

Why it holds

Most masking tape is crepe. Ours is a smooth washi paper — and you feel the difference the moment you lay it down.

    The grain

A smooth, dense-fibre washi paper. It holds a straight edge instead of feathering it.

  2. follows the line
    2

    The curve

Thin and supple, it follows a body line or a wheel arch without lifting, creasing, or fighting back.

  3. clean straight tearno knife needed
    3

    The tear

Tears clean and straight by hand. No knife, no scissors, no ragged start.

  4. lifts clean — no residue

    The peel

Lifts away in one piece — no residue, no bleed, no torn shreds. The paint line stays exactly where you put it.

That’s the whole point: sharper lines, cleaner removal, less rework.

What this backing does that crepe can’t.

It conforms.

The backing is thin and supple. It follows curves — a wheel arch, a mirror base, a swage line — and stays down instead of tenting or lifting at the bend.

It tears clean by hand.

A dense fibre structure means the paper snaps off straight and true. No knife, no scissors, no ragged leading edge to trim before you start.

It lays flat.

Where crepe bunches and channels, this smooth washi paper sits tight to the surface. That flat contact is what seals the edge — and a sealed edge is what stops paint creeping under.

It holds a razor-sharp line.

Because the edge is dense rather than feathered, paint stops where the tape stops. You pull it back to a crisp, knife-straight break — not a soft, fuzzy one you have to explain to the customer. Solvent-based and waterborne, it holds the same line.

It lifts clean.

The acrylic adhesive comes away in one piece and leaves no sticky film behind — even after the heat of a 121°C / 250°F bake. Clean removal up to 30 days interior, 14 days exterior. No residue to chase, no shreds to pick, no solvent to reach for. Just the finish.

Automotive-grade, where the finish counts

Washi paper, professional job.

We build that washi-paper backing into a true refinish tape — model M678, acrylic adhesive, handles 121°C / 250°F for 30 minutes — for the same clean edge, job after job. That’s Maasktape.

One tape. Zero mess. Built on the washi paper that makes the difference.
